Mavs defense cools off Trojans 27-0 - They say offense wins games and defense wins championships. But since no championship was on the line Friday night, it can also be said that defense cools off teams enjoying their hottest start in 32 years. Memorial High School’s defense, hotter right now than any blue-ribbon chili at the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo Barbecue Cookoff, wouldn’t let South Houston continue its rags to riches story on their watch.

Robinson provides do-it-all on offense for Klein Oak — Though six games, Klein Oak senior Terrence Robinson leads the Panthers in rushing with 1,143 yards and 17 touchdowns — statistics Robinson credits to preparation time with coaches.

District win puts ‘Cats in control - Throughout the week, Palestine head coach Glen Tunstall talked about getting into the district’s driver’s seat. After a wild and crazy finish that resulted in a 41-38 Palestine win, are in that driver’s seat as the Wildcast have started District 19-3A with a win.

Panthers hurt by starting off slow - The much anticipated matchup between Palestine and Westwood didn’t quite play out the way the Panthers would have hoped. Despite a rally of 32 points in the second half to get within three of Palestine, Westwood dropped the District 19-3A opener 41-38.
