• Lumberton holds off LC-M, 21-13   -  Showcasing the talent of senior running back Cody Hussey, the Lumberton Raiders stayed in the thick of the District 22-4A playoff chase Friday night by downing the hard-nosed Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 21-13 at Battlin’ Bear Stadium.

• H-F rushes past BC, 63-21   -  Getting 410 yards from its rushing attack and four touchdowns by Chris Bell, Hamshire-Fannett easily took care of the Bridge City Cardinals behind four touchdowns by Chris Bell 63-21 in District 21-3A play at Longhorn Stadium Friday night.

• Ozen slides past Pirates, 29-14   -  The Ozen Panthers took advantage of eight Vidor turnovers and beat the Pirates 29-14 Friday night in District 22-4A action at Cardinal Stadium.

• Volleyball: Three and out  -  Everyone’s aware of the world’s seven wonders, but on Friday night at TWU’s Kitty Magee Arena, the Lady Wildcats saw to it that there was an eighth. Guyer was sending just about every Ryan kill attempt back to Ryan’s side of the net, led by the combination of Megan Corbell and Hannah Ingram.

  LA MARQUE — The Gators destroyed the defending state champions, La Marque Cougars, 44-23. With the victory, Dickinson clinched its first playoff berth since 2002.

• Dramatic loss for Patino, Ball High
  GALVESTON — The Tors failed to score from the Oiler 2-yard line with 20 seconds remaining and lost to Pearland 15-13.

• Stings clinch playoff spot, share of title
  ANGLETON — Texas City clinched a playoff berth and at least a share of the district title with a 25-15 win over Angleton.

• Guidry leads Wildcats past Yellowjackets
  ALVIN — Clear Creek put itself in prime position to earn a playoff berth Friday night with a 28-14 victory over host Alvin.

• Friendswood advances to regional semifinals
  FRIENDSWOOD — In a regional quarterfinal showdown in front of a packed house, the Lady Mustangs defeated the Lady Gators to advance to the semifinals.

• Lions crush Eustace, 56-7  -  Kevin Dotie rushed for 238 yards and scored four touchdowns as Kaufman (7-2, 4-0 in district) raced by Eustace, 56-7, en route to clinching the 13-3A title Friday at Lions Stadium.

• Livingston downs Montgomery, earns playoff spot  -  MONTGOMERY – The Montgomery Bears saw their playoff hopes dashed Friday night at Bear Stadium as they fell to the Livingston Lions 38-28. With the win, Livingston improves to 8-1 overall, 4-1 in District 18-4A and secures a playoff berth, while Montgomery slips to 3-5, 1-4 in league play. Full Story

• Hornets sting Caney Creek  HUNTSVILLE – It was a night of revenge for the Huntsville Hornets as they downed Caney Creek on Friday and dashed any playoff hopes the Panthers had with two touchdowns in the final quarter for a 24-13 victory. Full Story

• Lufkin blanks Magnolia  LUFKIN – On a night where Lufkin running backs Christain Hillard and Will Christopherson returned from injuries, it seemingly did not matter who was in the backfield for the Panthers.  Full Story

• Brenham downs Willis  BRENHAM – Brenham moved within one victory of an undefeated District 18-4A championship with a 42-7 victory over Willis Friday night at Cub Stadium.Full Story

• Tomball gets first win of season -  This game meant nothing and everything all at once. Combining the two team’s wins before the Nov. 1 match up, it equaled out to one. One win between Tomball and Klein Collins and yet there was a significant sense of importance.Full Story

Despite 224 yards of total offense for sophomore Kevin Thornton in his first start, the Tigers dropped their fourth straight game to end the season, 45-24 to College Station A&M Consolidated on Friday night at Tiger Field in a District 13-5A game.

• White, Rockdale run over rival Cameron Yoe for 43-21 win to regain bell   -  ROCKDALE – For three consecutive years, the Cameron Yoe Yoemen had held the prized hardware that goes to the winner of the annual “Battle of the Bell.” The Rockdale Tigers regained possession of the bell by playing their own old-fashioned version of keepaway.

• No contest for Ships
  FREEPORT — After coming so close to a District 23-4A victory so many times this season, Brazosport finally broke through Friday on homecoming night.

• Buccaneers lock up postseason berth
  Brazoswood survived a fourth-quarter scare and held off Clear Brook for a 21-14 win Friday night at District Stadium.

• Danbury refuses to give up in 26-14 loss
  DANBURY — The Danbury Panthers had a few scare tactics left over from Halloween, but playoff-bound Hitchcock got its grip back just in time Friday night.

• Royal edges Sweeny, 34-33
  BROOKSHIRE — Twice in the second half the Sweeny Bulldogs could not hold on to the lead.

• Angleton stung by Texas City
  ANGLETON — The Stings wake up this morning knowing they are in the playoffs. The Wildcats wake up still feeling the sting.

• Columbia loses postseason bid
  SEALY — The Columbia Roughnecks playoff hopes came to an end Friday as they lost to the Sealy Tigers, 21-0.

  GALVESTON — With his team two yards away from losing control of its own district title destiny, all Tony Heath could think about was all the mistakes.

• Buffalo records first win   -  BUFFALO — The Buffalo Bison defeated rival Leon 27-13 Friday night in District 22-2A action.

• China Spring win makes moot point differential in 17-3A

• Rebels crush LHS  (Tascosa – Lubbock High)

• Mules claim 2-2A title  -  Sometimes, that’s just the way the ball bounces. Muleshoe recovered three Bushland fumbles in the third quarter, turning a four-point halftime lead into an 11-point advantage entering the fourth quarter as the Mules won the District 2-2A championship with a 42-17 victory before 2,750 fans Friday night at Falcon Stadium.

• A Husky-sized victory; Chapin 35, Irvin 21
  Rene Hernandez said it rather succinctly to his football players after Chapin High School held off Irvin 35-21 on Friday night. 

• Parkland takes control, rips Riverside
  The Parkland High School football team bounced back in a big way from its upset loss to San Elizario last week and routed Riverside High 50-13 at Parkland on Friday night, keeping the Matadors’ playoff hopes very much alive.

  We mentioned in a story earlier this week that a loss by Plainview on Friday would’ve given the Bulldogs their first 0-10 season since 1963.

• Blocked field goal lifts Seminole to win
  LEVELLAND – As Levelland was driving to his team’s goal line, Seminole football player Hunter Haralson was getting nervous while Indians head coach Chris Burtch was just plain scared.

• New Deal 21-point rally dooms Hale Center
  HALE CENTER – New Deal scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter to rout Hale Center, 35-0.

  BUSHLAND-Sometimes, that’s just the way the ball bounces.

• Voigt leads Antelopes to victory, playoff berth
  ABERNATHY – Abernathy is going to the playoffs.

• Consol puts away Belton with strong 4th quarter  -  BELTON – A&M Consolidated’s spot in the state football playoffs was wrapped up before the Tigers took the field at Belton, but the wrapping wasn’t pretty. Consol spruced it up a bit Friday night, pulling away in the fourth quarter to beat Belton 45-24.

   Eagle euphoria!; Eagle Pass defeats Nixon on Homecoming night  -  One of these years, Laredo schools will learn to stop scheduling Eagle Pass as their Homecoming opponent.

  Solis ready for changes in first year  -  When Nixon High School’s boys basketball squad takes the court this season, don’t expect to recognize much. With a completely revamped coaching staff, a feisty new style and some different playmakers on the floor, the only thing that’s the same about these Mustangs is their name. Full Story
