Illness throws wrench in Canyon’s plans ROUND ROCK – Surprises abounded in the Class 3A state cross country race. Favorite Kristie Krueger of Argyle was passed on the final straightaway, defending state champion Canyon struggled to sixth place and a bunch of freshmen from Kingwood Park won the 3A girls championship at Old Settlers Park course. In the boys race, Argyle’s Blake Wollums ran away from the field. Canyon’s Sann Allison and teammates were unable to track down Wollums because the Eagles were well back after some sort of flu bug hit in the week, Canyon coach Wes Kirton said.
