• UIL Statewide pairings:
  > 5A   4A   3A   2A   1A   6-man

• AHS time moved to 1 p.m.  -  Game time for the Abilene High-Southlake Carroll Class 5A playoff contest at Texas Stadium has been changed to 1 p.m. Saturday to accommodate two other playoff games to follow.

• Sharks to play Rio Hondo in area
  After breaking one of the longest playoff absences in Texas football history, the Sharks took it a step further and won the bi-district championship.

• Hoops wins keep coming
  The county’s basketball teams are starting the season with a flurry of wins.

• Dunbar cruises to 78-62 win over Plano   -  Jason Smith led the Wildcats with 20 points. Keith Parker added 19 as Dunbar improved to 7-0.

• Danbury nets key honors in volleyball
  In 2007, the Danbury Lady Panther volleyball team returned to the postseason despite several obstacles in its path.

• Tigers’ Hines commits to Gators  (Corsicana)

• Football- Shelby switches back to AD hat after football season ends - On the cusp of a second-round appearance in the 2007 football playoffs, the Rosehill Eagles scrambled to their own end zone only to realize that as quick as the snap of the football the first-round was as far as they would go. • Concordia set sights on timely revenge  -  Three hundred and sixty three days prior to Concordia Lutheran High School entering the second-round of the 2007 playoffs, the Crusaders were stunned after losing to St. Joseph’s in the second-round of the playoffs.

• Bulldogs Swept By Axtell – Both Wortham basketball teams were in action last Friday night at home against Axtell and both teams suffered losses.

  Lee’s Ganders might lose some soccer games this school year, but it won’t be because they got winded.

• High school football: Calvary on to semifinals  -  Calvary head coach Dhati Lewis said he was more proud of his team’s 50-14 win Saturday against Bulverde Bracken than any other victory this season. It wasn’t only because the Lions advanced to the TAPPS Division I six-man state semifinals. But poor weather and field conditions in Temple forced Calvary to adjust its game plan at the last minute.

• Coyotes to host Pearsall Mavericks Tuesday
  Tuesday night in the Uvalde High School Gym, the Uvalde Coyotes will go up against the Pearsall Mavericks in basketball competition.
