Saltillo takes two from Dodd City
Dodd City’s Kamey Herpeche dropped in a dozen points and Cecily Darwin scored 10, but it wasn’t enough to keep Saltillo from picking up a 16-point win. Basketball: Halfway home - On their midterm exam, the Ryan Raiders get an A. The Raiders wrapped up the first half of District 5-4A play with a hard-fought win over Wichita Falls Rider, giving Ryan a winning record in district play and a leg up on the playoff race in 5-4A. Ryan didn’t always have its “A” game throughout the win, but the Raiders made enough plays down the stretch to squeeze out a 63-59 win over Rider on Friday at Billy Ryan Gym. The win was Ryan’s fourth straight district win.

Quick look: In the first battle of heavyweights, McKinney edged Poteet on Friday with a 1-0 victory. As a result, the Lionettes stay with McKinney Boyd at 2-0 in district play, one-half game ahead of McKinney North who was idle on Friday. -
